On the evening of the 14th, a woman who was working as a station employee of the Seoul Transportation Corporation was killed while on duty. The natural right to a safe workplace and daily life without violence against women has been violated by crime again.
The woman took measures such as illegally filming, threatening, and stalking damage from the perpetrator who worked at the same workplace, actively reporting and filing a lawsuit to solve the problem. However, the court rejected the arrest warrant without gender sensitivity, saying, "There is no fear of escape and destruction of evidence," without reviewing the risk of female violence by coworkers, and the perpetrator approached the woman's work schedule to find out her work information. The court did not try to properly understand the situation and voice of the woman who felt threatened, and the Seoul Transportation Corporation, which was a workplace, failed to provide a working environment for workers to work safely.

Women's life and safety cannot be fully guaranteed when women's violence and the structural factors that tolerate it are not comprehensively corrected. The "prevention measures against recurrence" shouted by society, which ignores oppression and violence that clearly intersects women's lives, are only empty slogans. It makes women's positions vulnerable to safety and questions Korean society where structural violence against women is tolerated. How long will the lives and daily lives of female citizens be threatened by violence?

It is time for a global change. Structural violence against women does not disappear just by turning a blind eye. The state should address women's violence, including illegal filming and stalking, and strive to create a safe working environment for female workers. The Seoul Transportation Corporation should also strictly feel the responsibility of this case and establish and implement measures to create a gender-equal and safe workplace as soon as possible. In addition, Korean society should remember the actions of women who demanded the role of the state and society to overcome the problems of discrimination, hatred, and violence against women, and fulfill its responsibility to establish a socio-cultural environment and legal system that can listen to the voices and lives of countless women.
